Bengaluru Airport on Tuesday commissioned the disabled aircraft recovery equipment, and has become the first airport in India and South Asia to own the modern kit that will enable prompt resumption of operations during aircraft incidents on airport. This is a transportable equipment with capability of removing the largest existing passenger aircraft i.e. Code F aircraft A380.

Kunz GmbH-manufactured recovery kit was inaugurated virtually by the airport chief executive Hari Marar.

In the year 2020, BIAL signed an agreement with Kunz GmbH to manufacture, supply, commission and maintain the specialised equipment.

As part of this agreement, KUNZ GmbH will work with BIAL to establish a centre for disabled aircraft recovery training, making BLR Airport the first in the region to have such a facilities.
