The airport authorities of Kolkata said that in view of the weather warning by IMD, flight operations at Kolkata airport will remain suspended from 8:30 am till 7:45 pm on May 26.
The Kolkata airport authorities said arrow bridges were locked, while high-mast lamps were uninstalled.
In addition pumps are kept ready to remove water from the low-lying areas in the airport compound.
Small planes are kept tied to the ground, while precautions are also taken to prevent any damage to large planes that were severely affected last year during Amphan.
So far, Air Vistara has cancelled two flights on the Kolkata-Mumbai and Kolkata-Delhi routes on May 26.
Wind speed on May 26 in Kolkata is reported to reach Howrah and Hooghly 70 kmph to 80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph.
In addition to Kolkata Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda, Durgapur and Rourkela airports will remain shut for commercial flights.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that Bhubaneswar will be closed from 11 pm on Tuesday till 5 am on Thursday, Jharsuguda from 12.01 am on Wednesday till 7.45 am on Thursday. Durgapur and Rourkela airports will be closed on Wednesday.
